You seem soooo happy with Iz :) I have been studying as much as I can on igs but I still can't find much on the appropriate temperatures and humidity for them. How would a closet work as an enclosure, it's approximatly 6 x 3/12 x 7, that is l x w x h. Mind you I would be slightly modifying the closet, ie taking the doors off and replacing with glass. And about ventilation, do they need very good ventilation or well what? I'm just curious mostly in things all these places I've read through don't tell you, like what really goes on with them, I've read all about my P m day gecko and it's one thing on what they say they are like and what they are really like. Anyway thanks again for all the help.

hi Pav!
check out The Basking Spot's page @
http://www.baskingspot.com/iguanas/igbook/housing.html
it gives specific answers to your humidity/ventilation questions (and more) .... and probably in fewer words than I could!!!
someone just posted a pix of their closet converted into an ig enclosure (see post below) and it looks pretty nice! the only problem i can think of you may have, is that a closet 3 1/2' wide may end up being too narrow when your ig gets BIGGER, but it sure sounds good to start with!!!! igs love/live to climb, so yours will really appreciate the 7' of height!
as far as ventilation goes, the thing that comes to mind first is to use plexiglass instead of glass and then you could drill some vent holes into it ..... plexiglass is more expensive than glass and scratches easier but it's easier (i think) to work with and alot lighter weight .... well.. with glass tho, you could build the door in 2 parts and have a vent in the bottom (or top) part ..... depends on how handy you are (or a bribe-able friend!) .....
when iZ was smaller, he has a house that was about 4' x 5' x 6' high .... he had a "pool" that was 10" x 20" x 6"deep with one of those waterfalls in it and that was enough humidity ..... but he also got baths and/or misted on a regular basis too which helps .....
yes, i am extremely happy with iZ!!!!!! *grin* he was so scrawny and sickly when he came to live with me and he's so big and healthy and happy NOW ..... i'm very proud of him AND me ....and i am very much a MOM .... iZ came into my life as my son was turning into an adult and i really needed SOMEone to 'baby'!!!! *grins*
as far as what REALLY goes on with igs????? well, i've read sooooo many posts from different places and i think either that a very few of us have either gotten very lucky and ended up with wonderful igs OR (and more likely) a very few of us have the patience and willingness to take the time and effort it requires to make friends with an ig ..... and it IS alot of "work" .... mostly iZ and i just hang out together in the living room at night .... him on his basking branch and me in a chair below .... we 'cuddle' for 1/2 hour to an hour before bedtime and i trim or file his claws and tell him how wonderful a dragon he is ..... he's still not real sure he likes baths or not, so i have to literally hold his hand and then he thinks it's just fine .... this is a bad time of year because our house is old and drafty and so roaming around isn't as much fun as in the summer .... but he likes to run around (the pet bunny in the middle of the floor is seen as a speed bump) and explore the downstairs and then climb the stairs and go play in my bedroom (and dig into the piles of clothes that are usually there ..... BAD housekeeper ....) then we play hide and seek trying to find his new hiding place ... !!!
ok ... your eyes are prob'ly sore by now so i will force myself to STOP rambling .... for now!
happy weekend!!!!!
