In Reply to: Is a fountain a good way to humidify Lucy's enclosure? posted by Russell Cindi on February 10, 2001 at 13:39:28:
I have constructed a "waterfall" in my enclosure. There are many large granite river rock glued together in a partial box that I constructed and waterproofed with epoxy. I have a 5 gallon fish tank with a trickle filter and pump under the waterfall for storing water. The waterfall itself holds about 2" of water in the bottom of it, but very little is "open". there are rocks throughout. It is more like a stream. My ig drinks from it and lies on the rocks, but there is not really enough room for her to poop. This was a very elaberate addition to her cage, but I felt it was nessesary to raise the humidity, and add a pleasant area to the cage. The humidity is raided through evaporation and I add about a gallon a day to the tank. It increased the humidity from about 15% to about 35%.
