Depending on where you are in the country will help make that decision a bit easier I would think. You want to be able to keep heat/humidity in the enclosure so most likely, unless you're somewhere in the "tropical" south you'd want to go with either true glass (safety of course) or plexi. Hardware cloth (preferrably coated) could always be used for a lid if necessary, but even that will make it more difficult to keep heated/humidified.
