I live in Orlando and it has gotten cold enough this last weekend to use our fireplace again at night and wear a jacket during the day (much colder than 80) Even if you live in South Florida, I'm certain it is colder than 80 at night. I would try to bring him inside-- do you have a thermometer to check the actual temp at night in his enclosure? My reptiles are inside and we have the heat on so it doesn't drop below 71 inside the house, plus they have heat night bulbs at night. If your ig stays cold and isn't completely healthy anyway, he is more likely to get a weakened immune system and catch all kinds of stuff.
: my porch doesnt drop below 80, i live in florida, plus he has a couple of basking spots, there is no possible way of my dog getting to the ig just because he is kept in a cage but i am worried about those mites getting on my dog through the cage and spreading throughout the porch. i want to do everything to help this guy because he seems to be a very sweet one. The cage wasnt too large but it did have 5 3foot igs in it. i would love to make a few phone calls in regards to that, just point me in the direction, this is riduclous, i have never had this problem before and i have had a few igs. i just have never adopted one so big. i need to get these bugs out of my house! thank you
