: I just wanted to get the message out to all those that love iguana's! Go into your local pet stores and find out if they are keeping there igs right! If they are not and will not change there ways than not only complain but get others in the area to complain as well! If enough people stand up for these wonderful creatures than they will be far better off!( and that goes for any animal kept in a pet store) I went to 4 pet shops last Saturday in my area and was really surprised! I was expecting to see alot of sad and sick looking igs, as i have seen in the past! And to my surprise I saw happy little baby igs running around in these huge enclosures with the right lighting the right temps and even an assortment of greens and veggies!! They were all hanging out at the top of there cages on vines and had beautiful coloring! There was even an info packet at one of the stores stating all the info you needed to know! I bought some marine fish from this store and felt good about shopping there! I couldn't believe how healthy the really small igs were! They were up in the tree branches running about and eating! I have seen the igs in the horrible stores and they are usually in an aquarium with repti bark on the bottom and looking so sad and sick! It breaks my heart~~BUT all pet stores are not bad and do not think you are rescuing an ig by buying it and taking it from those horrible conditions because they will just order more after selling (or killing off) the last batch~ hopefully by standing together against mistreating animals we can make a difference! thanks~~ Tiffany
Well said Well said. What are the characteristics of the cages? size, substrate, branches? Just curious some stores go all out and others use 20 gallon tanks you know what I meen. It is definetly good to here they are shaping up, my Ig was bought from one of the few pet stores that actually sold healthy igs. They actually sold them when they were just out of that baby stage so they were way better off in new homes. You know less stress and stuff. Well thanks for the good word and I hope to see more pet stores like the one you have mentioned!
