interesting ... but ... the ig's claws would never get trimmed and would just continue growing + growing + growing til they were curled under ...
ig's claws seem to grow quite fast ~ i would assume that this is because in the wild (or in their room if they have rough tree limbs to climb on), they claws are constantly 'filed down' by nature ... the claws *need* to be trimmed or filed on a regular basis, either by the resident humon or by rough climbing surfaces ...
i had a little bunny once who developed horrible sores on his 'heels' ... 3 visits to 2 different vets + we still had no clue *what* was causing the sores ... finally, in talking with other bunny-parents, i discovered that the sores were caused by his claws being too long + that in turn put too much weight (all 5 pounds of it) on his heels instead of more evenly distributed throughout his foot ... *DUH* ...
ANYway ... i always wonder if there's potential for sore ig-feetsies if the claws get too long??? and does it maybe affect their ability to climb, etc???
trimming ig claws doesn't have to be a big deal! it just takes ALOT of patience on the humon's part to help the ig become *un-afraid* of the process is all ...
Bon.
