In Reply to: the Fluker Farm Enigma............ just gotta ask .......... posted by IGUANA JOE on January 25, 2001 at 10:45:28:
Well Fluker farms are just like every other iguana farm ! They only ship the " GOOD ones " having seen two farms one Fluker and another private one ( the guy sells to Fluker ) I have to tell you it is a iguana lovers nightmare . All they are is a big fenced in yard with to many iguanas in them to be able to count if you step in the wrong direction so many iguanas move the ground looks like it is moving and sounds like a highway . The people that work there wait until they see an egging female they net her throw her in a box until she lays then they throw her back incubate the eggs until they hatch then they throw then in a separate pen until shipment . The private farm feed there iguanas scrap food from restaurants plate scrapings and old market veggies and pellets no they don't pick out the meat or anything else . I did not see this t the fluker farm they fed there iguanas pellets and they would keep a pile of cut tree branches in a corner of the " PEN " . If the employees see a hurt or sick iguana they put them in a trash can still alive although I did see one guy just chuck one over the fence I am not sure if he was setting it free or just did not want to go to the trash can . While I have to say Fluker May ship healthier iguanas then other farms the fact remains it SUPPORTS the farms when you buy one ! If you want and are ready to take the 20 year trip with your iguana and decide you can and will care for it through those years then adopt one you will be doing a much greater service for them ..
