But i always believed in:
"size does matter" &
"bigger is better"
i dont know how old Lizzy is, but i would make the cage a foot or two longer all around... maybe make the height even 6-7 feet, and the length 7 feet! iguanas need room to stretch, but also to move about, not jsut turn around and face the opposite way. they need to roam a few feet back and forth too.
its better in the longrun. even if your iguana is (or will be) a free-roamer, there may be a time in the future that it will have to stay in the cage more often, or for a few days.
a bigger ccage offers better thermoregulation for the animal, since smaller cages limit their basking and cooling spots. a bigger one will enable the animal to roam in other basking areas, and cooling places, extending its natural behavior. otherwise, its always back and forth down a log......pretty dull uh?
but then again, this is my humble opinion. maybe its because i gave my ig a humongous cage from the start (8' all around), but did he grow into something!
if you have limited space, i guess it's ok.
hope this helps!
:-)
: Lizzy's new cage will be 4'X 6'X 4' or 5' tall. I think I'm going to need two UVB flourescent bulbs. A pet store nearby has 30" light strips with 24" bulbs that are 20W. Will that be enough for her?
