In Reply to: Can I get my 9yr olg male ig to stop attacking me??? posted by Dennis on January 19, 2001 at 19:04:38:
I've heard similar stories of this when males get older. He is trying to dominate! For your sake I hope it is just seasonal. My last ig would get testie around this time, but did consider me dominant over him so would always submit when I showed no fear and forced him to be petted on the head when he acted like this. However, my boyfriend at the time did show fear and irritation-- and he got chased and then my ig tried to mate with him.
: So he's big, and owns me and everything in my room.
: He's ok when he's out of his cage for a bit but all of a sudden puffs up and charges with mouth wide open. I quickly grab him, say no, and put him in his cage.
: It's not limited to breeding season- it's like a habit, or a routine.
: He gets the best up to date diet and has a moderate sized cage.
: Any ideas? Thanks
