looks like either u stumbled on a lost green iguana, or a spiny tailed iguana. i doubt desert igs (dipsosaurs) are around communities.
U call it mid-west iguana, but what the heck is it? if im right, and it is a spiny-tailed... u got yourself quiet something!
ctenosauras are 70%-90% vegetarians, and 30%-10% carnivores (some say they'r e50/50, but it's still in debate).
they are smaller than green iguanas, average about 3 feet, though four footers are possible (depends on the subspecie).
besides the slight difference in diet, their care is practically almost identical to green iguanas, but they need less humidity.
if you truly do have a ctenosaura (spiny-tailed), check out the last forum below on them. Though a bit slower to respond, the people there are nice, and good in responding.
