: Hi Lexi, My name is Diana and I jump on here frequently to find out stuff about Iguanas because I adopted one from a bad situation about a year and a half ago.
: I just read about your iguana who passed away and my heart went out to you. I can't imagine losing my little guy.

: I'm writing to you because you might be an answer to my prayer...

: I live in Utah, and I often go to Petco for cat food, and Iguana supplies. Here in Orem, at Petco they have a female Iguana living in THE WORST possible situation imaginable. Tonight, when I saw her, still clinging on to her miserable life there, I actually cried there in the store. I felt sick to my stomach, and thought I need to do something to help her.
: I've gone in four times in the last four months, and each time, she is sitting in a tiny cage, with NO UVB lights, (I even asked the reptile "specialist" at Petco if she had UVB lighting at all, and he said no. I even took to the store a 15-page care guide I made from resources off of the internet, in hopes that the reptile "specialist" would read it and get a clue as to how to care for this Iguana--all to no avail.) no heating pad underneath her to warm her belly, a huge dog bowl filled with dirty water to drink from, and only brocolli, carrots, and a few collard greens to eat.
: The thing is, she's beautiful and looks otherwise healthy, and she has a great personality. She is calm enough and nice enough that they occasionally open her tiny cage and let her sit on top of it while store patrons hold, touch and look at her. (I've gone in just to see her and to visit her so she wouldn't be so sad and lonely there.) I know that she's trustworthy around strangers and is amazingly mild mannered.
: Why am I telling you all of this? And why might you be an answer to my prayers? Well, because it's 1:47am and I can't sleep for thinking of her tonight, alone in her cage, with yet another day to get through tomorrow. I was thinking about what I could do for her. I thought of every possible way I could think of to get her from Petco and keep her for myself, but, through my tears, I had to acknowledge that financially, there's just no way I can take on another Ig right now. I have no cage for her, and no set up; she deserves to be loved and shown what life can really be like.
: Well, when I read that you recently lost your Ig, I thought that maybe you might have room in your heart to love another one.
: I don't mean to impose on you, nor to make you feel pressured to take her--heck, I don't even know if Petco will give her to me (I'm pretty sure they will, though)--I was just looking to hear whether or not you would be open to the idea of this at all.

: Please write back and let me know either way. I have to find a way to help her, and I have to help her through others, since I have no way to care for her myself.
: Even if you don't want her, but hear of someone who might, PLEASE let me know. I can't bear the thoughts of her spending the rest of her life in a tiny cage, all alone.
: That goes for anyone else who might be reading this: If you know of anyone who would be willing to adopt a wonderful, calm, mature female who's never known a good home, please write to me and give her (and me) hope.
: I'm going to go to Petco tomorrow and ask the manager if they'll give her up to a good home. It's obvious that they don't care about her a bit, so I doubt they'll hesitate.
: Sorry this was so long, but my heart was overflowing and I needed to express to you fellow Iguana lovers out there that I have found a deserving Iguana who needs a loving home. Please contact me if you know of anyone who is interested...Please.
: Thanks for your time, and again, Lexi, I'm sorry for your loss--very sorry. I can think of no better way to let your love of your lost Iguana live on, than to take in another one who is so deserving.
: With much thanks to all who read this,
: Diana
