Congratulations, Merlin sounds like a wonderfully healthy iguana. It seems like you are doing everything right.
His eating habits seem normal for an iguana of that size. Don't worry pretty seem he/she? will be eating you out of
house & home. About the water, iguanas get the majority of their water from their high vegetable diet. Your Ig may drink from
its water dish but you probably won't see it. Remember it is always important to have fresh water available for Merlin even if you never
see him drink.

Good luck he sounds fine

: After reading posts about little igs dying or in bad shape I'm beginning to become paranoid about Merlin's health. He lets me handle very well now and I've noticed some things that I would like an opinion on. I can feel what I think is his hip bones, they are right above his tail. I can also feel his ribs, but his tummy seems full. You can't see his ribs or hips by just looking at him. He is about 3 months old and is 3 1/2 to 4 inches snout to vent. The base of his tail seems good and fat, but I have nothing to compare it to. Also if he lays on his log with his back legs in a certain position it puts a dimple in his tail on both sides on the base. His front legs are skinny, but his back legs are a little fatter. Is this all normal for a little guy? He can move extremely quickly, swims great, has good color (beautiful emerald green), poops daily and seems alert.

: We feed him 4 times a day. In the morning before we all take off we leave him a little plate of MK's salad. Then when I come home for lunch I change the food. It looks like he has eaten about half (1 heaping tablespoon). The kids change the food again when they come home from school and again at dinner time. He won't eat in front of anyone so it looks like he doesn't eat anything in the evening. Is this all normal?

: Sorry, I still have more questions...I can't remember where I read about putting a piece of cuttle bone in the water bowl to help with calium intake. Anyway, we have done that but it sure seems like it doesn't add anything to the water. Is this helpful or not?

: Does anyone have pictures of what a healthy baby ig looks like? I can find pics for larger igs but not for baby's.

: I guess I'm done rambling on for right now.

: Thanks, Joan
