Well I think that the people here know as much as she does for a start . The only thing she has to offer is that she has her THEORY'S on the care of iguanas on a web site . Yes she does have useful information on her site . Don't get me wrong I am not saying I or anyone else is better because of doing more Longer to I might add . Well let me tell you I have seen 15 year old iguanas that only eat dried food that are in perfect health I have seen a cricket and carrot feed 5 year old the was also in perfect health . The facts are well nobody is sure are they ? Please show me 1 study on iguanas that showed nutrition to heath over a few generations ? You can't ? Why not ? Because there is not one ! I have wrote her myself asking her questions about diet she responded that it was not here idea to have the Internet diet fight . Ok I will accept that . However she says you should give supplements to your iguana why would this be needed with a proper diet ? The only thing I do not like about her is that she is to arrogant to accept that nobody knows for sure what is best for the iguana ( out of the wild of course ) if she would accept the ideas of others that have merit I would feel different . Don't get me wrong I belive her site has probably saved many iguanas from meeting an early death . I have done this to I have fought to help iguanas for 15 years I fought for three years to get the state of Maine to make iguanas illegal to sell in this state . Guess what as of January 20 2000 there is not a pet store in the state that has an iguana to sell ! Guess how many that saved ? In December 1999 I had about 15 iguanas in my care ( not including my 2 ) December 2000 I had 3 that's three ( I am keeping one he has a great personalty ) I call that progress .So I think that I have earned the right to say that any person that says they are an expert on iguanas wake up there is lots more to learn . Iguanas can live to be 25 or more so when Ms Kaplan has raised two or three generations of iguanas and can base her theory's on FACT then she will be an expert . Until then she is the same as the rest of us someone who cares about weird green lizards and wants to help . Like I said 16 years with iguanas ( just so you know I had my iguana Speedy a year before my first rescue hence the 15 above ) and I am not close to being an expert and I am not ashamed in any way to say that I learn more every day and also admit that . So when you say that this ref sucks because people like Melissa Kaplan or any body else who wrote a book or has a website does not post here . Yes it OFFENDS me and grates against every reason I come here !!

PS if I did not have to work 10 to 12 hours a day to care for my wife child house and my iguanas I to could write a book but like I said by the time it was printed I would have learned something new so why bother ?
