I just rescued a 9-12 month old iguana that a college girl let run around her dorm for the past couple of months. It has never been handled, unless whoever worked at the pet shop played with it. The previous owner was in fact scared of him and said she just wanted him to say she had an iguana. That girl left for Malaysia and didn't bother to take Carlos with her, so my sister, being the RA in the building thought of me and gave me her iguana. My problem is that I'm not sure what the best way to go about taming him would be. I have a 7 year old iguana and she's sweet as she can be, but he's out of control! He lunges at me when i put food in his bowl, he whips his tail at me and hisses and runs from me. I do eventually get him calmed down after catching him and petting him. Should I force him to calm down by catching him and holding him till he gives up or should I give him time and space. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm used to dealing with leopard geckos, fat tails, red ear sliders, and my old iggie. This new guy has got me all stressed out!
