iZ has recovered well from his surgery in Oct (his 2nd in a year! *sigh*) ... he sez he was ready to be climbing waaaaaaaay before the 8 wks was up but his mean old humommy didn't put his climbing toys back in his room til the doc said it was ok ... the change in him just blows my mind! it is SO obvious that he feels better than he has in a year ... his coloring is absolutely gorgeous! he's darker and more vivid than i've ever seen him ...

trying to figure out what *caused* the bladder stone to form in the 1st place and looks like we'll never know for sure ~ consensus seems to be that iZ's metabolism is just way whacked, prob'ly from the kidney damage he suffered last year ... *sigh* ... but! kidneys seem to be functioning quite well now ~ HURRAY! his urates are back to being nice + thin + wispy with nooooooooo chunks OR grit in them ... he WILL be having an x-ray in the spring just to be sure there isn't another stone forming ...

he's still struggling to get back up to the 12 pounds he weighed 18 months ago ... he's at 10 pounds now and has all of his muscle strength + mass back ~ his sides look a bit thin yet but that is *still* a residual effect of his kidneys being so swollen a year ago and then his bladder being swollen *this* year ... poor kid ...

i give him drinks with an oral syringe on a daily basis and while he's always been awfully cooperative with that, he *does* make a point of debating with me on just *How Much* he should have to drink ... (he makes me think of my toddler granddaughter!!!! LOL) ... so ... i'm teaching him to count! *grin* ... he gets to the point where he is going to absolutely REFUSE any more even tho he's only had a few cc's and so i hold up 2 fingers and tell him "just 2 more" ... *squirt* ... hold up 1 finger and tell him "1 more" ... *squirt* ... hold up my empty hand and tell him "All Done! good dragon!!!" ... ok ... maybe he can't count but i think it *does* let him know that the "horrible ordeal" is almost over with and it *does* get him to relax and drink a bit more! *grin*

this dragon-baby's appetite is something to see! he just keeps amazing me at how much he can EAT! it's getting to the point where a dinner plate isn't big enough to hold how much salad he wants for supper ... am gonna need a pIG-trough pretty soon! on top of that, he's also eating a good breakfast everyday which he *never* used to do ... and poop!?!?!? OMG ~ it stands to reason that he'd poop alot since he's eating so much but *geesh*! if i didn't know better, i'd think he was bribing the dog to poop in the tub for him! *WOW* ... his vent doesn't *look* that big ... ROTF ...

so iZ is doing really good + *knock wood* hope it stays that way this time!!!

me ~ my Gramma died in November and it's just rocked my foundations dreadfully and i've been hibernating ... there's just lots of "Life" happening around here lately and i haven't felt up to being among people ... but ... maybe i'm done hiding away for now???? who knows ... *grin*
