there are alot of disadvantages to letting your ig roam free, even in an ig proofed room. the first and most important is providing proper lighting and heat in the room. iguanas need 85 degree heat and basking spots of 95+ degrees. also getting lost, eating non-food items, and falling off curtains and high surfaces can cause problems.
i think you should probably use a cage (wood and screen) or a large aquarium. but that is just my opinion:) many people have found roaming to work fine. i would keep your adult female in at least at 75 gallon aquarium but you have to promise to take her out alot:) i think the best way to go is a cage made with wood and screen, either you can build it yourself or you can buy one ($$$!)these cages can be as big as you like but a 4 x 5 foot cage would make your ig love you.
hope i could help;)
