Medication and restraint.....

A small rubber spatula is great for keeping an Ig's mouth open for medication. Gently open the mouth a little, insert the spatula from the side, and twist a little to open the mouth wider. the rubber keeps the ig and you safe as far as teeth are concerned. The syringe goes OVER the spatula. Be sure you get past the glottis(entrance to the airway), since you must not inject medication into the lungs. As to restraining the iguana, you must make a decision to totally restrain, or not. In your case, total restraint seems to be in order. A restrained ig can ge injured badly (and you too) if not restrained totally. A thick towel wrapped around the body and legs works very well, but be sure to keep a firm hold. Good luck!
