quick answer (hard for mom to do!) to your quick question: keep trimming his nails on a regular basis .... i also use an emory board on iZ's in between or in addition to, trimming, to smooth them out .... also i've noticed that as iZ and i have become more familiar with each other, he doesn't grab onto my arm quite as hard as he used to .... i pick him up slowly and in the same way each time so he knows what to expect and he knows i'm not gonna drop him ... (i put my hand under his chest 1st and then he puts his hands around mine and wait a second or two so he knows i've got his weight supported, then i put my other hand under him about where his vent is, to support his legs and tail and his legs wrap around that wrist ...)
i think it's a bit of a trust thing and with a little time, your arms will heal ... mine finally did!!! (long sleeves help ALOT in the meantime tho!!!)
