Well the FACT no matter how much people want to deny it or dispute it is that iguanas in the WILD are omnivorous meaning ( an animal that feeds on both animal and vegetable substances ) . The FACT also is that animal protein in so far as any study done so far ( that I know of ) say's that it is bad for them . I would have to say I agree with the later on this I do not feed my guys animal protein's . Nor do I recommend it to anyone . I have taken in one iguana that was feed crickets pinkies and pellets for the first three years of his life . He is still living with a friend of mine and doing fine he is now seven and has had no ill effects . However I have seen a few die of kidney problems due to being fed the same things . All the wisdom I can offer say's why take a chance . Just stick to a good solid diet of greens and veggies and you should be ok . Don't forget the most important thing GO TO THE VET at least once every six months he can find the problems long before you see symptoms . Well I hope this helped some .

PS I know a bunch of you are going to try to tell me that iguanas are not omnivorous . Please don't .I have been to El Salvador four times I have not only seen Green Iguanas in the wild but have talked to breeders zookepers and many others they all say the same thing .
PS PS I still recomend that you DO NOT EVER feed animal protein of any kind to your iguana .
