Chris, as I know it, a vaporizer is used to deliver medicines, such as vicks vaporub, while a humidifier supplies only water vapor to the air. Having said that, I believe that I have seen humidifiers with the monicker "vaporizer" on them. What is important is how much moisture does it put out? Some cheap machines don't really have enough output. If it has enough output, I don't think the name matters. Keep in mind that some machines are "cool mist" (use no heat) and others actually send out steam or warm vapor. Either one works OK.
