there should be a test required before you're allowed to have pets .....

ok - bear with me please and i'll TRY not to ramble tooooo much .... there's this young woman i know, i don't know her very well, but we have mutual friends, one of whom is my best friend .... we started talking about igs last night and i found out she's got a 2 yo that she's had for a year now and pretty much knows NOTHING about ig care .... she just picked it up for the FIRST time a week ago .... she thought igs didn't have teeth .... she thinks keeping it in a small cage will prevent it from growing too big .... didn't know they like water and can swim .... thinks shedding is PAINFUL .... ETC!!! i was proud of myself that i DIDN'T freak out at her .... my husband told me later that night that he's seen the poor little ig and basically it's dead .... it can barely walk .... she thinks it's just tame .....
i invited her over to see iZ cuz she seemed so impressed with him and seems genuinely interested in learning about ig care .... but after talking with my hubby, i'm terrified she's going to want me to go meet HER ig and i don't think i could deal with it very adult-like .... i can see myself grabbing the poor thing and running .... sigh ... (and this woman is ALOT BIGGER than me!!!!) she doesn't have a computer or access to one but i'm gonna try and hook her up with Melissa's site ....
i don't deal well with animal cruelty ... intentional or not .... and i'm NOT known for my TACT .....
think i just need to vent ..... i am sooooo frustrated .... and horrified .... and sad ......
