Any time a creature (animal or human) is injured, it NEEDS to be taken care of by a properly trained professional. However, it is tough to know exactly how much money we should have stashed away for these unfortunate times. If the money is not available right now, I would attempt to beg and borrow, and if that fails, try to work something out with the Vet. Most vets love animals too, and will often work out a payment plan with the pet's owner.
On that note, I do think it is a good idea to set up an emergency fund for your Ig. Hopefully you will never need it, but if you do, at least you will be prepared. Just something to think about...

: unfortunetly if the leg is broken it will NEED vet care to have it xrayed & set properly. He may even need medication.
: If your friend cant afford a vet visit, they probably shouldnt own an animal. The thing is... if its sick & needs care... it needs care...! It cant be overlooked. If your friend needed a broken leg fixed they would see a doctor... same has to go for the ig. Sorry.
