what is the best diet for iguanas?

hi, i got a iguana he is my frist iguana i had any luck in feeding i had 2 other ones got the frist about this time last year and i never seen him eat. he was just a baby and then this sumer i was tacking him out side in the sun(he was wield) and i had a little liesh on him. i did this a lot but one day he jumped up and got right out be for a coud cech him he ran right up a BIG tree say maybe 40 to 70 feet and never was able to get him down :*( and then i got a nother one he never would eat and died he to was a baby. and one of my dads frinds were selling one its about a foot and a have for $30.00 and a cage for it to so we bought it. the poor little thing was in a 10 gal. and a hot rock! and he is pirty helthy nad eats pirty good and i moved him to the same cage that i had my other 2 in( its 5 feet tall about 3 feet deep and about 3 feet long) and lots of limbs in it and 2 fints for air on the botom. and a screen top and plexy glash sides one side comes off. and in the sinter their is a little bord anout 6 in.s long for his food and water. this is a home made cage. but whats the best diet for them? ans were is the best place to put the food? i have been giveing him saled and other liffy greens but he LOVES turky now thats its arond christmas i have been giveing him sume not that offen but i can be handeling him and get sume turky and he will eat right when im handeling him! and i got him to eat saled to that way and also when is the best time to feed them? i heird its best in the morning and then a hierd from a nother purson its beat at night when is the best time?
