Just a message to all of you as a reminder about humidity and the season.... Here in Ky it was 0 this morning, and won't get above 15 today. the forecast is for more of the same, and this seems to be the norm for much of the nation. Please be aware that extremely cold temps mean extremely low humidity. Temps in the single digits cause the air to be drier than a desert environment. We run a large humidifier 24/7, have a soaking tub in the Iguana habitat, have a gallon of water on the top of the auxillary heater all the time, keep water in the bathtub, (Our ig lives in the bathroom) and it was still 35% humidity in there this morning. We try to keep it between 50 - 60%, but this is very difficult this time of year. We're probably going to go to two humidifiers 24/7. If you are in an area affected by this cold snap and don't know what the humidity of your ig's environment is, head for the pet store, get a humidity indicator, and take a reading. You'll be surprised.
