Mark, my post above was a little short, so I'll explain. In my opinion, light at night of any color is not necessary, for heat or otherwise. Most of what I have read supports this, but, of course, there are differing opinions. My ig seems to sleep more soundly in darkness. I have found that a ceramic heat emitter is ideal for supplemental night heat. Be sure to use a ceramic fixture protected by a wire cage. Good luck!
