given the information on this iguana, the statements I made were only IF the iguana has been out in the wild for over a year. I would never suggest or recommend ANYONE release an iguana into the wild if it was a pet from the beginning. But since iguanas have established colonies in Southern Florida, from owners releasing them, people are going to start seeing a lot more of them in the wild. This has already been posted some time ago. If these iguanas are surviving in the wild, we should let them alone.
It is hard to say what type this iguana is that you have right now, unless your friends can say they've seen it out there for over a year. Finding that information out, can base what course of direction you should go. If it's found out that it's been out in the wild for over a year, I would take it back to where they found it and release it. DO NOT release it any where else, one thing it doesn't need is unfamiliar surroundings.
It doesn't sound like you have the needed room at your place to house 2 iguanas in case they can't be housed together. I'd first find out the whole story from your friends, then go from there.
There's a few adoption places in Florida if you need to find a new home for it.
