Ok, first question: Will the tail grow back?
It may or may not, it depends of a few things, one reason it might not, is if it's been broke in the wrong area. An iguana's tail, is made up of 4 to 5 sections. These sections are where the normal break off point is when needed for self-defense. Regrowth from these sections, is around 90% but if the tail has been broken between these section joints, regrowth (from my understand) is very low, if at all. We have a 6 yr. old who's tail has been stubbed since we got her 3 years ago.
Second question: Can the toes be straighten?
The answer is No, if the damage is old or if it was caused by MBD. One thing I would suggest is watching all of them for signs of infection. They need to be removed asap if this happens.
Now, I have a question for you, has a fecal test been done of this iguana yet? If it hasn't I'd suggest you take a sample into your Vet's office as soon as possible. Use a zip-lock baggie and make sure the sample is fresh.
A side note: Someone should report to officials, (if they haven't already) this person that left this iguana in a house for a week. If this person doesn't have to answer for his/her actions, they haven't learned a thing about caring for an animal.
Best wishes on your new ig,
HD
