I more commonly post on the turtle forums, and when a new poster comes in with a turtle they do not know how to care for with the subject line "HELP!!!" and proceed to list out an extensive array of problems with this animal. I do not jump on them, I try to give them unbiased advice to the best of my knowledge or direct them to better informed sources than myself. People may not always make the wises of choices, but the animal is already in their possession and deserves to be given the help this person is now willing to given it, not be discouraged by a bunch of angry replies so that they instead leave the forum and do not wait to get helpful replies. This just leaves us with a person who is still uninformed and a dead or suffering animal. There has already been debate after debate like this on the turtle forums.
I wonder, how come I'm the one who gets jumped on when iguana forum posters have come in with the general message of I just got/was given an iguana. I don't know how to take care of it, and 'what should I do?' In general the forum replies with helpful suggestions and words of encouragement; instead, I get bashed because I tried to help. If I thought I was going to get that kind of treatment, I wouldn't have told you guys about my situation since I was hopeful of getting the same kind of encouragement.
