You will need to clip his nails, unless you like a pattern of interesting scars on your forearms. The nails can become needle sharp, and you will be inadvertently scratched. We use a pair of heavy duty toenail clippers, but you can get the notched pet clippers at a pet store. Bird nail clippers work well. BE sure you cut off only the needle like tip of the nail. The blood supply is near the end of the nail on iguanas. If you cut too deeply, a styptic pencil will stop the bleeding. We clip when our ig is resting, and he usually tolerates one or two feet before he says he's had enough. May take a couple of times. If all else fails, build a 2' x 4' frame out of 2" x2" lumber. staple 1/4 inch hardware cloth to it, hold it vertically, hang the ig on it, and clip the nails from the other side. Works great!
