First off, what's the dry stuff?
Store-bought iguana food?
The idea of mixing up the minced veggies is great, or you can make tiny "cakes" by mixing minced veggies with smashed cooked beans. The beans "glue" them all together, but they have to be finely minced to work! Supplements in the food and water can help him stay strong, but he has to eat properly. Force feeding will only get him mad, and enforce the refusal of moist veggies.
Zoomed's iguana food can be offered, by moisting it a bit. I think you can also give it dry, though not sure.
You can offer steamed veggies, and chop them up in pieces.
Check him out for int/ex/ternal parasites too, and MBD.
Good luck!
: Well, God works in mysterious ways. I say this because as you might recall I was supposed to take in an iguana this weekend with severe MBD right? Well, my friends decided to hang on to him and it's just as well. Today we are scheduled to pick one up right here in our town. If we had taken the other, we would not have been able to handle this one, so it all works out in the end. My dilema is, according to the present caretaker (works at a pet store and already has one) this one was dropped off a few weeks ago. He is about 18 inches snout to tail and will only eat dry food. He has had it for two weeks and can't get it to eat collards or anything so what he would do is put him on a pure veggie diet two days and then three on the dry. The poor little guy has lost weight. Any suggestions on weaning him off the dry stuff? I was thinking of using my chopper and mincing the collards and veggies up really small and mixing in the dry, slowly cutting down until he doesn't need it anymore. Think that will work? We are picking him up at 5 (1 1/2 hours from now) and will probably keep him until we've got his diet ironed out and a vet visit in before we start trying to place him. Please write with any suggestions. Thanks in advance, J
