Hatfield's is a bit pricey, but it's got tons of info, that are still up-to-date, even if it's a couple of years old. He has great cage design info, thorough chapter on iguana social behavior, with great tales from owners, and info on the iguana market, bilogical info of the animal, and so forth.
But, frankly, 60%-75% of it is really what you need to know on keeping an iguana.
Which brings us to MK's. This, from what i've heard here, (scroll down a few post & look for mine on them) is very good.
Now, if you can write in this forum, it means you have access to the 'Net, which means you can visit her website.
Which also means that all her info is free right there, and you can print it out (a lot of pages, but hey, it's free right?), ending up with lotsa info for zero money.
If you want to spend a few bucks and have some reference right next to you that is up to date, go ahead. Check out her website first, then look at the book if possible. Form there on, you decide.
Now, Hatfield's is by no means crappy. Put it this way:
Hatfield's is the Bible, and MK's is the Gospel (sorry if you're jewish) on iguana care.
If you want to know everything from the beginning of time, get the former, if you want major points and latest info, go with the latter.
I have Hatfield's and couldn't be happier! Nice fotographs too!
Avoid Barlett's. It's ok, but it's out-dated on the diet and other points, but the pictures are quiet nice, and covers other iguanids.
: Would you recommend James Hatfield's book GREEN IGANA, THE ULTIMATE OWNERS MANUAL, or M.K.'s book IGUANA'S FOR DUMMIES?
