I wouldn't worry too much because if he pooped it out-- he's more than likely on the mend. The biggest thing to worry about is what else he may have eaten OR what he may eat in the future!

OUr last ig, Salvador, ate newspapers, papertowels, rocks, a penny, a 6" toy rubber slug, and my bra (but I caught him with it 1/3 way down and pulled it out! (wireless luckily). We never knew about the penny, slug, and rocks until his necropsy (he never passed this stuff unfortunately--- and could have lead to him becoming sick).

SO, just keep everything out of his path. It's hard to do because I still don't know how Salvador got a hold of some of that stuff!

Eddie probably feels much better now though! ;-)

: Those are the alarming words I heard from my son when I answered my phone at work last night. After repeating those same words when asked "What do you mean he ate a stocking?!" he finally said Eddie pooped out a stocking, a whole stocking. I checked on him immediately upon getting home and sure enough there was the poop-filled stocking (the nylon knee-hi type) right where Eddie left it - on the bureau. I couldn't believe my eyes and I'm still not sure I'm convinced this whole thing isn't just a bad dream.

: I know of course I shouldn't leave lying around things they could eat but shouldn't, because they will! But a stocking?! And a dirty stocking at that, ugh! And I always get on the kids for being such slobs and therefore have another reason not to be leaving those lying around the room. And I've been through the whole guilt trip, been through the whole "accidents happen" thing, and back to "but that is such an easily avoidable one" guilt trip Part 2. So I guess I'm really just sharing and again reminding us of the dangers of carelessness.

: And I have a question regarding after effects (as I'm guessing it's the minority who have not encountered the woes of their ig(s) eating things they shouldn't) and that is: Is there cause for a real concern as to what this material might have done to my poor little baby inside??? I have a call in to the vet, but I'm still awaiting his reply, and often like to compare my discussions with him with the experiences of others, just to broaden my frame of reference.
