Cut your mom a break. She obviously didn't understand and perhaps she wasn't even really listening, but I doubt that she acted maliciously. At least if there is a next time, you will be able to make a little more of an educated guess. If you decide you can trust her to do all except the lights, maybe you can get a timer for them. Keep in mind there is a lot to learn about caring for igs and for someone like your mom, who doesn't really know, can't be expected to give perfect care based on a crash course. I'm sure your little iggy will be fine :-)
