: Hi all, my first time posting here. I am a snake owner (one burmese python). I visit the local pet store quite frequently, and have gotten to know the employees, you could say :) Anyway, one employee has a 3 ft iguana that she needs to get rid of. She asked me if I would be intersted in taking him. We are guessing he is about 3-4 years old, judging by size alone (could be off). The current owner also adopted him, not too long ago. This iguana is not kept in a cage, he is allowed to have the run of one room in the house when no one is home, and pretty much gets to do what he wants when there are people home. He is of wonderful temperment, very calm and docile. She seems to have taken good care of him while she has had him. Previous to that is unknown. So... what do you think? Is this a good iguana to adopt? Should I consider building a large cage for him, and get him used to being in it when I am not home? I have a room in my house that he can be in, but I am just not sure about leaving him out all the time. I seriously doubt it can be real good for him, since he cannot get the proper heat and humidity outside of an enclosure. My previous reptile experiences include a snow skink, several anoles, and most recently, my Burm. Looking for advice here mainly, if anyone has any tips or concerns, or things I should look for, your help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.
