breeding season?

Today Phil has gone in his water basin about 5 times, and he looks like he is trying to go to the bathroom, but he hasn't yet. This is weird because he had a big meal yesterday, and he normally goes the day after. but he never goes in his water basin to go, he always stands on the branch above, so as not to get himself dirty. I don't know why he would go in the dish today.
Also, when I walked by as he was in the basin, he started bobbing at me, so I stopped, and he actually gave me his frist open mouthe threat ever! and after that and some more bobbing, he lunged at me!Well, I guess it's breeding season right? he has a little bit of orange yellow on his dewlap now.
Anybody have any idea about the water thing?
(p.s.) this is phils first breeding season.
