BUT they can also be an indicator of the beginning of bladder/kidney stones. OR the first sign of possible renal problems. It's going to be very important that you have a good vet to work with you to get a firm diagnosis. From there folks around this forum can give you their personal experience with whatever it turns out to be.

I would STRONGLY urge you to be sure that your vet is up on all the latest when it comes to reptiles. Treatment used for mammals may not work on reptiles and could possibly be lethal.

If you don't have a vet, post up here where you are and someone can recommend one for you hopefully or check out the Herp Vet Connection website.

I'll give a holler *grin* about the other thing that concerns you (heat). Surely others have worked this out.

Also, I'm leaving you a website re gout. I'd advise you to not get overly worried right now but start looking for a vet ASAP.
