It might fall under "Gout" which if it is...the following may or may not help (by the book)

Cut out food items (if you are using them):
Beets, Beet greens, Chard, Dandelion, Kale, Mustard, Spinach, Turnip greens, beans, peas, and Fruit.

Use some of this: breads and Rice

What is possibly happening with your iguana is, inappropiate dietary protein levels and dehydration. Gout is associated clinically with many other disorders, especially those affecting water balance. The above diet may help but not for sure, there is a treatment for it, which would mean a Vet visit.

Sounds like you need to get more fluids in him and change his diet some. I'd suggest studying food items and checking their levels acids, protein, etc... and adjust the diet.
