: Many of the Canadian frequenters of this forum and the Canadian Forum will remember the case of Destiny (pictured here) that our rescue took in after he was found dumped in a box in front of a local animal shelter during the spring. You may have also come across him on the SPSAC page.

: As you can see, he had severe thermal burns across his stomach - but what you cannot see are his severely burnt hands and feet.

: He had other severe medical problems as well - I am actually working on a special page about Destiny on our site (will include a complete breakdown of medical problems, photos, treatment...)

: The other problems included:

: 1. Severe malnourishment and dehydration
: 2. Severe mite infestation
: 3. Severely broken bones - shoulder, arms, hands, legs, feets - possible dislocated shoulder
: 4. MBD
: 5. Front appendage paralysis

: ...as well as several other problems. Despite all veterinary assistance though, he only survived for 8 days in intensive care - the people who disposed of him did it too late - the damage was done.

: We have found this particular picture very useful in persuading people to stop using hot rocks with their reptiles. Most were not aware of the potential damage these things can cause - but they are now. We have actually persuaded several major and minor pet stores to stop carrying them completely.

: Just trying to help out a few more iguanas in any way possible :)

: Candace
