We built Sneakers cage in one of the kids' closets. The closet was originally about 7'w x 8'h x 2.5'd. We ripped everything out and put some built-in kitchen drawers on one side and attached a dowel from side of the drawers to the remaining side wall. On top of the drawers we laid down 3/4" plywood to make the floor of cage. We put linoleum on top of the plywood. There is 3 levels, the ground floor and 2 other levels. The other levels are 3ft to 3 1/2 foot long. The 3rd level has a heat lamp and a 3ft ZooMed 5.0 over the shelf. The ground level has a ceramic heater and a small tub of water. Kitty litter tub is what we use for the water. The lights are on a timer and the ceramic heater has its own thermistat for heat control. There are ladders that go to each level. Sneakers likes to eat on the second level.
In our bedroom he has a platform that was built on top of my dresser. Sneakers accesses the platform from a built-in ramp that runs from the window sill. On top of the platform is a heating pad set on low and a heat lamp clamped on to our curtain rod. Walt also got a 1"x6" and formed it on top of the window sill. This gives Sneakers a wider area in basking in front of the window. Sneakers jumps from the bed to the custom window sill and then up the ramp to his special platforum. He also has adopted one of Walts winter beanies to lay on. It is a fluffy and soft and Sneakers just loves to lay on it.
We don't have any new picks at this time but will have soon.
