I would like to believe that the picture was printed as a wake-up call to iguana owners. People really don't (well, a lot don't) treat iguanas with the respect that they deserve. Iguanas are WILD animals that grow to massive proportions and can inflict injuries like that, and yet they are sold by the hundereds to childeren as good beginner lizards. I mean, would you go buy a pitbull pupy for your child to play with? What about leaving the pitbull with the child when it grows up and can't be handled any more because of the ill treatment that it recieved growing up in horrid conditions? With many iguanas, this is the case and reptiles magazine wanted to let people know about one woman's experience with her iguana, to let people know that these do have their own minds and are wild animals that cannot be "tamed". I'm all for that picture being published, maybe if parents start to see this picture they won't go buying iguanas for their childeren anymore, and will leave these reptiles to the more experienced owners who are willing to put in the time and effort it takes to keep an iguana happy and healthy. Whew! that was a mouthful... Whoever counts the number of run-on sentences gets a star.
