I am assuming that by posting your message that you are trying hard not to come across as a complete moron.
I would really suggest, unless you are playing a prank, that you always transport your ig in a safe and secure carrier. At least until it gets big enough not to get stuck.
You can drive your car to a mechanic and have the dash dissassembled and then re-assembled for probably $100 to $400 ( depending on where the ig is and how much equipment has to be disconnected. Assuming that the mechanic will even touch your car with an ig attached.
Also, there are a couple of things that can happen:
1. If you wait, may the ig will come out.
2. Put food in the car along with a long extension cord for a light and/or heat lamp or pad.
3. If the ig is not near the steering column, that would be ok, however, in any case, there is always the possibility of electric shock ( 12v DC )which could be minor or could be life threatening if the ig crosses muliple circuits or a particular high voltage or high amp device.
Frankly, I would wait until night. The ig cools down, goes to sleep and then you can pull it out.
