As to the biting himself, Bug bit himself in both thighs and chewed on the tip of his tail during his first breeding season, but I attributed it to Breeding frustration. Interesting that you have had this happen to a 5 month old. I have not been able to find any reference to this in any Iguana books either. Sorry I don't have more info, hope someone does.

: Just out of curiosity doiguana's see in color? because they sure seem to like green stuff :)it has taken Tarzan quite a wgile to shed his whole body. . . about 3 weeks or more to be exact. hes just finishing up his legs and has a little bit of tail left. then he'll be done. m,y question is this. . is this unnatural? or is it normal for an iguana to take sucj a long time to shed? he's getting me really antsy. and today he did something really odd... he bit his front leg. . . i dunno if he thought it was foood or what, do iguana's stop and itch that way? or is he sick? i tried to stop him and moved hois head away. but he just did it again. all in all he bit his leg about 3 times. he's only 5 months old. so i lucked out because he has barely any teeth yet. he is on a good diet right now (collards, mustard, dandelion, and some other friuts, veggies). so im guessing that it might be something else. . . help!
