iZ has taught me that it is impossible to use the word "normal" when discussing ig behavior! *grin*

what Roxy's doing is prob'ly perfectly normal FOR HER ... especially if she's sleepin' peacefully, i'd think to take that as an indicator of that being "her" happy colors ...

iZ on the other hand, likes to totally IGnore any + all guidelines ... *sigh*

when iZ is happy + content + relaxed, he gets very very dark ~ his head gets a very purple cast to it and his cheeks + face get this metallic pink glow ... sometimes the pink tinge even spreads to his tail + body ... the happier he gets, the darker he gets ...

the more stressed he gets, the more he loses color ~ his head will turn totally white + the colors on his body will fade as well ... very strange to see how FAST he can change colors, depending on what's goin' on!

color plays a HUGE part in thermoregulation ... usually igs get darker when they're in the sun or under UV lites cuz they're soaking up more heat that way ... can get lighter when they're a bit too warm ...

and again, learning to interrupt the color changes is part of learning your ig's "language" ...

really ~ i NEED a nap now ...

Bon.
