Hawaii lists green iguanas among banned herps with
in the state. (ref: Vivarium Vol9,No6,Aug/Sept98)
I thought I read somewhere, but am not 100% certain,
that a part of the DC area banned iguanas; now, I'm not
sure if that's for within the classroom environment
or personal home.
In the City of Los Angeles, California (which acutally encompasses
multiple cities), iguana owners are required to have
a 75 dollar wildlife permit. I live in Redondo Beach,
which though is LA County, doesn't fall under the
jurisdiction LA City. No permits are required for iguanas
in the beach cities of Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach
and Manhattan Beach. That was quite a relief for
me since I take Vega$ down to the beach occasionally.
