In the U.S. iguanas are pretty much legal, but a few months ago someone posted here who lived in Singapore and his wild-caught green iguana was confiscated because they said it was an endangered species.
And like Roman said, the majority of humans think that cats and dogs are allowed to bite, because that's what they do. However, reptiles are NEVER allowed to bite no matter how frightened or stressed it may be. Yes, herps go through some tough prejudices...
