Tail problem

: My 7 year old ig has a tail problem. : on the lower half of the tail (away from the body) a large scab has formed, about 1/2" x 4 ". : It is about 1/16th" thick... It has started to make it's way off the tail and I have been trimming it, so she doesn't get the scab caught on something and rip it off. I have been treating the wound, (under the scab) with triple antibiotic. : Although the healing is not happening as quickly as I would like, Igs mood is good. I need advise on what to look for, under the scab is real fleshy, with some wierd coloration, but doesn't seem infected.
