In Reply to: Is it better to keep a lone iguana or 2??? & why?? n/p posted by Mercy on October 03, 2000 at 21:30:08:
My wife and I started out by getting a single igglet, roughly 4-6 weeks old. About two days later we got a second, because she was worried that the first would be lonely... They got along just fine for the first year. At that point Snortimer, the larger one (also known as His Royal Highness King Snortimer the Grouchy^H^H^H^H^H^H^HMighty), started getting much more aggressive toward Sneakers. Eventually we had to seperate them out of fear that he would badly hurt her... or that she'd hurt herself trying to get away. These days he can hardly stand to even see her, so we have to be very watchful whenever we let one of them roam. Don't get me wrong... they're fantastic creatures and I don't regret having two of them. Nonetheless I'd highly recommend getting only one, at least until you're comfortable caring for them. If you do get a second, be sure that you're ready to seperate them quickly if necessary. Cheers!
