first off if your ig is a baby, it will be impossibe to potty train him, they cant help themselves and have to poo a lot. but you can get him used to the bathtub though, i take mine to tub once a day to do their pooing and soaking. fatty usually only goes once a day..every morning in the bathtub...everynow and then he roams into the bathroom to do his duty by toilet. i am so proud of him..did this on his own. best kind of training... he is 2 yrs old.
louie is a baby...he just goes whereever his vent takes him...and then i clean it up quickly.
eventually he will have a cat pan..lined with newspapers..not litter. they can ingest cat or lizard litter easily. that is not good for them. it causes blockages, that cant be detected for a long time.
you can put small amt of water in pan. iguanas tend to enjoy pooing in water...make sure and change water everytime they go in there.
as far as free roaming goes around here, iguanas are very curious creatures. they have a tendacy to get into everything thats not glued down. its also hard to keep their temps right. and humidity too. i havent been able to let fatty free roam totally. she does get the run of the house during the morning and then i cage her in the afternoon while i work. louie is a baby and is caged all the time so far. he only comes out for tub time and lovings from me.
take care,
sue3
