use clean but old t-shirts that we rub on ourselves and put them in their cages.It's worked on monitors,skink,bds,and igs but not our cat!!!
We then wear a shirt two days or even three days in a row,that they have their scent on it.These creatures are very very scent oriented and this helps them smell themselves on you and you in their cage.We have had great success with this method for 10yrs now.
Hope it helps and keep in mind,,,they do try and train you.As to vet visits,scoop them up in that t-shirt in their cage and place them in a pillow case and it makes it easier on the both of you.Always try and keep their scent with them as well as yours.I don't wear perfume,or even (don't any of you say it!!)deodorants while handling them.Good luck and don't give up the fight!
