i used a cloth to destract him when i was reaching in to get him...after about a couple of weeks..he got the idea, i was picking him up. and that was the end off it.
now he never bites or tail whips :)

: Okay, Lizzy bit me a couple of months ago. Since then I have not been able to get her from her cage.
: I am able to feed, change water, clean cage etc. I have been talking to her softly and letting her know I mean no harm. Nothing is working here.
: When I go to feed depending on where she is she will get in the tail whipping position ready for action, she has whipped several times. Her cage and entire area are kept very clean and correct uvb and heat are supplied.
: Food I give are from the guidelines ffrom Mk and other sites and she eats well, poops well for that matter.
: My question is how do after 2 1/2 years start over. Will I forever have a demon Lizzy that will never allow me to handle her again. She used to sit on my shoulder and crawl all over me and I could walk around with her this way.
: I would also like to start her free roaming but this seems impossible at this time.
: Then come sthe question of a vet visit, how to get her safely to and from vet without totally freaking her out and me probably getting bitten again.
: When she did bite last time I still held onto her, my wound took several weeks to heal.
: Does this sound like she has the upper hand on me so to speak? and is using this situation to not be handled.
: I spend much quality time with her, other than holding and she has come along way from being the nervous little iddy biddy baby.
